Casey and I go way back to the inspiration for the band, philosophies on creativity and also talk about Shadowlands, another fine participant in Portland's underground music scene.

It seems like a lifetime has passed since Ralph and I did an episode together.  It was great to catch up and talk about a great band that needs more hype.

A while back, Ralph turned me on to Murderbait from Portland. At the time, their EP “When the Sun Goes Down, It Goes Down Forever” was out.  You have to love that title.  Immediately, I was drawn into their web or darkness and intensity, bringing to mind some of my favorite bands such as Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus but with a distinctly original vibe.

Murderbait have a brand new LP out called “Nostalgia Like Cancer” (yet again another great title).

Trevor Shelley-DeBrauw of Pelican / Rlyr returns to the podcast.  For serious, old school listeners you may remember the episode we recorded way back when we were on tour in Europe together.  I always look forward to these meetings; some of my favorite tour memories involve Trevor and the men of Pelican and Isis.

As some of you know, Tombs wrapped up a short run of dates with Cloak and Restless Spirit. It was great to be out on the road again; also shout out to those of you that I met in person!

 

This week, Paul Aloisio, the guitarist  and vocalist from Restless Spirit joins us to talk about the formation of the band, their current album “Blood of the Old Gods” as well as his time writing about horror movies.
