EWB 138 MALCOLM TENT (TPOS, TRASH AMERICAN STYLE)
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Malcolm Tent is a musician, record label mogul, music archivist and all around interesting guy. I met Malcolm back when he was the proprietor of Trash American Style, one of the most important record stores in the Tri-State Area. He also runs the record label TPOS and has released music by The Pist, Antiseen, GG Allin, David Koresh and his own projects such as UltraBunny, Bunny Brains and his own solo acoustic punk rock.
We had a great time discussing:
- The unreliability of eyewitness accounts
- The forthcoming Final Sermon by Jim Jones LP
- The validity of cassette tapes
- Thor
- Charles Manson
Intro: Obsidian - John Carpenter
Outro : Massacara - Hellhammer

EWB 150 RENNIE RESMINI STARKWEATHER
Monday Mar 12, 2018
Monday Mar 12, 2018
Rennie Resmini, vocalist and co-founder of Starkweather joins us for this episode. I’ve admired Starkweather for many years; their career stretches all the way back to 1992 with their first LP Crossbearer. They’ve twisted the hardcore punk genre by incorporating metal, progressive rock, noise rock and other less obvious elements like The Birthday Party into their own unique style.
We get into a variety of different topics such as
- Early records and shows
- Authors influenced the vibe of Rennie’s lyrics
- Some movie recommendations for fans of horror and extreme films
Intro : John Carpenter – Obsidian
Outro : Starkweather – The End of All Things

MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN 009 ANTIFA = FASCISM
Sunday Mar 04, 2018
Sunday Mar 04, 2018
ANTIFA has been on everyone’s mind these days. They’ve prevented bands like Marduk and Taake from performing in certain US cities because of alleged fascist views; they’ve intimidated, threatened and vandalized their way into the consciousness of mainstream culture as well as the underground having been involved with the Charlottesville protests and sucker-punching alt-Right douchebag Richard Spencer which was captured on that viral Youtube clip that everyone was passing around.
The question is, are they actually doing any good?
In this episode, I express my thoughts about ANTIFA. I thought I would get this out to you while I’m still able to speak my mind. I get into the following topics
- The Battle of Cable Street
- Is ANTIFA “is a major gift to the Right” as Noam Chomsky puts it?
- Real fascist groups that are alive, well and gaining power in the United States
- A slap in the face to Lenny Bruce and Max Hardcore

MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN 008
Tuesday Feb 06, 2018
Tuesday Feb 06, 2018
On the heels of the last episode with Mike Gitter, I headed into this real heavy nostalgia trip about my years in Boston. I prepared some notes and went into this free-form riff about my years in the 90's living there, the bands I played in, the cast of characters that I met and some of the life-forming experiences I had.

PODCAST 137 - MIKE GITTER (xXx Fanzine)
Wednesday Jan 31, 2018
Wednesday Jan 31, 2018
Mike Gitter has been working in the metal / hard rock music industry for most of his life as A&R, management and all around go to guy, but back in the murky past he was the creator of xXx Fanzine. Between 1983 and 1988 he produced 20 issues documenting the hardcore punk movement as seen through the eyes of someone who was deeply embedded in the culture and lifestyle.
In partnership with Bridge 9, he has collected all 20 issues, along with some supplemental material, into one massive hard bound additon. We discuss the genesis of the project, some cool moments from the distant past and how the power of the music is still as relevant today as it was in the 1980's.

PODCAST 136 Topic : AMPHETAMINE REPTILE
Monday Jan 15, 2018
Monday Jan 15, 2018
This is the first episode of the TOPIC series that Randy Larsen and I are going to do from time to time. It started out with our playlist episodes and evolved into this more formatted type of setup.
Both of us were heavily influenced by the 90's record label Amphetamine Reptile. Bands like Helmet and Today is the Day Started out there and the vibe established my the label gave rise to some killer bands that pretty much existed in obscurity. If you aren't familiar with this era in music check out the youtube playlist we put together.
