PODCAST 020 Aaron Harris
Monday Oct 08, 2012
Monday Oct 08, 2012
I've had the honor of calling Aaron Harris "friend" for nearly two decades. I remember seeing his band Loga play way back in the early 90's on a cold winter night in Old Town, ME and being totally blown away. I remember hanging out wit those guys afterward at this diner, drinking coffee and eating grilled cheese sandwiches. As I grow older, I see the value in these deep friendships. I went through many years of my life believing that I could go it all alone, singular, solipsistic, but I'm lucky to have an inner circle of good people around, despite all of the shabby behavior that I've engaged in.

PODCAST 017 Eugene Robinson
Monday Oct 08, 2012
Monday Oct 08, 2012
Utilizing the wonders of modern technology, Eugene Robinson and I were able to transcend time and space and spent a pleasant hour discussing the finer points of fighting, playing loud rock music and the "30 second rule". Eugene has been the frontman of avant-garde, blues, noise outfit OXBOW for over 2 decades. Aside from his antics on stage, he is a prolific writer, martial artist and fight enthusiast. If you haven't checked his books out already, I recommend "Fight" and his novel "A Long Slow Screw"

From the first time I heard Ulcerate, I realized that they were not a typical band. They were clearly operating within the death metal genre, but instead of catering to a certain style, it was more a case of using the language of death metal to express more diverse concepts. It may sound dramatic, but I feel like Ulcerate are the future of death metal. When Tombs had the opportunity to play shows with them, we jumped at it. Though it was only three dates, I feel that it was an honor to share the stage with them. Jamie and I, in the wake of the theft of their gear, had a quick conversation before our show in Boston. I hope to see these guys on the road at some point soon.

Fred Pessaro stopped by to chat about Brooklyn Vegan, promoting shows, secret identities, and our love of old soundtracks. We spoke about two films, "To Live and Die in L.A." and "Christiane F"; I said that both films are basically about drugs, but I stand corrected, "To Live and Die in L.A." is actually about counterfeiting!! Enjoy the podcast, and if you're so inclined, leave a comment on iTunes.
