Karl and I are moving along with our coverage Darkness Weaves, the final Kane novel.  If you’re tuning into this for the first time, Karl and I started this collaboration to discuss the work of Karl Edward Wagner, an author or sword and sorcery, horror and weird fiction. Brandon Legion and I continue our exploration of the weird world of Twin Peaks.  This week we explore Season 1, Episode 3 “Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer.” This episode originally aired on April 19, 1990 and was written by David Lynch, directed by Lynch with music by Angel Badalamenti. The plot thickens as Agent Cooper ramps up his investigation into the murder of Laura Palmer by calling in his forensic specialist Albert Rosenfield. Bobby and Mike find themselves getting deeper into the dark world of Leo Johnson and Cooper gains a preternatural insight into who killed Laura Palmer.

Randy and I do a proper Ozzy Tribute.  In light of the Prince of Darkness’s impact on both of our lives, we did a run down of favorite records, stories and excellent moments.

Paul Aloisio of Restless Spirit joins us this week for a tribute / remembrance of Ozzy Osbourne.  It’s a heavy time in not only heavy metal but in the larger popular culture.  Most of us grew up listening to Ozzy and Sabbath but we sometimes take for granted his impact on the greater culture. We also get a update on new Restless Spirit material, tours and all that stuff.  Apologies for the relatively poor audio quality.

 Rennie and I are back with another installment of Kill or Be Killed, our exploration of crime films from the 70’s and early 80’s.  With the passing of Gene Hackman, this episode is somewhat in memoriam of a great, prolific actor.  THE FRENCH CONNECTION established Hackman as a force in Hollywood as well as heralding in a new wave of darkly realistic crime movies.

Keith Huckins of Deadguy / Kiss It Goodbye / Rorschach joins us this week.  Eith has been a huge influence on me as a guitarist dating all the way back to his work with the seminal metallic hardcore band Rorschach. At that particular time, no one was doing anything like that and he continued his work with Deadguy in the mid-90’s.  Fast forward over two decades and Deadguy has now deployed their new album Near Death Travel Services available from Relapse Records.
